How to Download Instagram Videos on Mobile (Android and iPhone)
To download an Instagram Reel or video on your phone, open the post in the app, tap the three dots (⋯) → Copy link, paste that link into PullVid's Instagram downloader, and tap download. You get an MP4 straight to your phone, with no app to install and no login. The process is nearly identical on Android and iPhone; this guide walks through each step and where the file ends up on each one.
It only works with content from public accounts. If you get stuck grabbing the URL, see how to copy an Instagram link; and if you're specifically after Reels, there's download Instagram Reels without an app.
Download an Instagram Reel or video on Android step by step
- Open the Reel or video in the Instagram app. The account must be public.
- Tap the three dots (⋯) above the post and choose Copy link.
- Open Chrome, go to PullVid, and paste the link into the search field (press and hold → Paste).
- Tap Download and choose the available quality.
- The MP4 saves to the Downloads folder; you'll find it in the "Files" or "My Files" app, and from there you move it to your gallery.
Download from Instagram on iPhone (iOS) step by step
On iPhone the flow is the same, except iOS saves the video to the Files app first, and from there you move it into Photos.
- Open the post, tap ⋯ → Copy link.
- Open Safari (or Chrome), go to PullVid, and paste the link by pressing and holding → Paste.
- Tap Download. Safari shows the download notice at the top (the arrow icon).
- The MP4 shows up in the Files app, Downloads folder. To get it into your camera roll, press and hold the file and choose Save to Photos.
Handling it through the Files app is just how iOS manages downloads from any website, not a PullVid glitch.
Reels, feed videos, IGTV, and Stories
The same flow works for Reels, feed videos, and IGTV: copy the post link and paste it. Stories can only be saved while they're live (they last 24 hours) and the account is public; we cover this in download Instagram stories, photos, and videos. Watch out for the difference between Instagram's "Save" button (which only bookmarks the post inside the app) and downloading the file to your phone: we explain it in save vs. download on Instagram.
Common problems on mobile
- "Couldn't process": almost always a private account, deleted content, or an already-expired Story. Review the causes in why I can't download an Instagram video.
- It's from a private account: it can't be downloaded with any tool; only public accounts work (more here).
- I can't find the video on iPhone: it's in Files → Downloads, not in Photos. Move it with "Save to Photos."
- You copied the profile link, not the post link: open the specific Reel or video first and use ⋯ → Copy link.
For general tips on downloading from your phone, there's download videos on mobile without apps, on iPhone, and on Android.
Frequently asked questions
Do I need to install an app to download Instagram on mobile?
No. PullVid works from your phone's browser. You copy the post link with ⋯ → Copy link, paste it, and download the MP4. There's nothing to install and no login.
Can I download from a private account?
No. Content from private accounts is only visible to approved followers, and no tool can download it. Only Reels and videos from public accounts work.
Why doesn't the video show up in Photos on iPhone?
iOS saves downloads from any website to the Files app, Downloads folder. To get it into your gallery, press and hold the file and choose Save to Photos.
Can I download Stories from my phone?
Yes, as long as the Story is still live (they last 24 hours) and the account is public. Once it expires, there's nothing left to download because Instagram has removed it.
I copied the link but it gives an error, what do I do?
Make sure you copy the link to the specific post (⋯ → Copy link), not the profile link. Open the Reel or video first, then copy the link.
