We tell you if the file actually arrived

Most tools mark a download as «complete» the moment they hand off the file, without knowing whether it landed. We wait until the bytes reach your device, and only then call it done. If it cuts out halfway we say so and offer it again, instead of leaving you with a half file and a success message — the most common reason a downloaded video won't play.

If it cuts out, you don't start over

The file is prepared on our server, not on your phone. If the screen turns off, you switch apps or your phone closes the tab, we offer it to you again for 2 hours when you come back. If it happens often, see why a download cuts out or runs slow.

And if it takes a while, we email you

When a download is going to take a while you can leave us your email and we'll write as soon as it's ready. The notice only goes out if you still haven't collected it after a while: someone watching the screen gets nothing. We use the address for that single message and delete it once it's sent. On a computer you can also switch on browser notifications and get told the moment it's done. On a phone that option doesn't exist —the browser can't send them without installing anything— so there, email is the only way there is.

The file opens on your phone

Some platforms serve video in codecs an ordinary phone can't play. When that happens, we convert it before handing it over. It's the difference between downloading something and being able to watch it — the problem is explained in video codecs: H.264, VP9 and AV1.

Converting and compressing never uploads your file

The converter and the compressor run inside your browser, on your own device. You don't have to take our word for it: turn off your wifi and try — they keep working, because your file never leaves your machine.

About the ads, plainly

Yes, there are ads: they pay for the server that prepares your downloads. What you won't find are fake buttons pretending to be the download, anything covering the real button, or downloads that come with an installer attached — which is why it pays to know how to download videos without viruses. If you'd rather not see them, Premium removes them.

The daily cap, said to your face

The free version has a daily download cap, and we warn you before you reach it instead of waiting for you to hit the wall. It isn't a trick to sell you anything: preparing videos costs money, and we explain it in full in is there a limit on free downloads?. If it's not enough, Premium removes it and adds 2K and 4K.

When something breaks, we publish it

Platforms change and sometimes something stops working for a few hours; it happens to everyone, and there are concrete technical reasons. The difference is that here it isn't hidden: you'll see it on the status page, platform by platform. We'd rather you knew what's failing than thought it was your fault.

No account, nothing to install

There's no sign-up to download, no extension, no app. It works in your phone's browser the same as on a computer. We don't host the content either: processing is temporary and the file is deleted from the server. If you're coming from another tool, you may want the video downloader comparison.
