How to Download a YouTube Clip
A YouTube Clip is a short cut (5 to 60 seconds) that viewers create from a video or live stream, with its own URL of the form youtube.com/clip/.... To download it, copy the Clip link and paste it into the YouTube downloader: PullVid processes that segment and gives it to you as MP4. It works with Clips from public videos.
What is a YouTube Clip?
The Clips feature lets you trim a short piece of a video or live stream to share it without re-uploading the content. The Clip isn't a standalone video on the channel: it's a reference to a stretch of the original video, with its own link. That's why it has a different URL (/clip/) from the full video's (/watch?v=).
How to download a YouTube Clip step by step
- Open the Clip on YouTube (you'll see the URL contains
/clip/). - Copy the Clip link with Share → Copy link.
- Paste the link into PullVid's YouTube downloader.
- Tap Download. You get the Clip's segment as MP4, with its audio.
What to keep in mind
- Just the segment: a Clip is short by definition (60 seconds max); you download that piece, not the full video. If you want the whole video, copy the original video link (
/watch?v=) instead. - Public videos: the Clip must come from a public video; if the original video is private or restricted, it can't be downloaded.
- Quality: that of the source video; the same principles apply as with any YouTube download.
If you'd rather have the full video instead of the cut, or the Clip won't process, check why you can't download a YouTube video. And if you're after short cuts for another reason, remember you can also download YouTube Shorts.
Frequently asked questions
Can you download a YouTube Clip?
Yes. Copy the Clip link (its URL contains /clip/) and paste it into PullVid's YouTube downloader: you get that segment as MP4. It works with Clips from public videos.
Does the Clip download the whole video or just the cut?
Just the cut. A Clip is a 5 to 60 second segment of the original video. If you want the full video, copy the original video link (/watch?v=) instead of the Clip link.
How does a Clip differ from a Short?
A Short is its own short, vertical video, with its own video link. A Clip is a cut from another video or live stream, without uploading new content, with a URL of the form /clip/. Both can be downloaded with PullVid.
Why won't my Clip download?
The most common reason is that the video the Clip comes from is private or restricted. A Clip can only be downloaded if it comes from a public video. Also check that you copied the full Clip link.
