How to copy a YouTube video link
To copy a YouTube video link, tap the Share button below the video and then Copy link. On a computer, copy the URL straight from your browser's address bar. With that link you can paste it into a downloader like PullVid and save the video.
Why do you need to copy the link?
The link (or URL) is the unique address of each video. Copying it is the first step for almost anything you want to do with that video outside the app: paste it into a downloader to save it on your device, share it over WhatsApp or email, or send it to someone. To download a YouTube video you need its link; without it, the downloader has no way to know which video to process.
Copy the link in the YouTube app (Android and iPhone)
The steps are identical on Android and iPhone, because the YouTube app works the same on both:
- Open the YouTube app and go to the video you want to save.
- Below the video, tap the Share button (the arrow icon).
- In the menu that appears, tap Copy link.
- You'll see a 'Link copied' notice. The URL is now on your clipboard, ready to paste.
For a YouTube Short it works the same way: tap the Share icon on the right side of the Short and then Copy link.
Copy the YouTube link in your browser (PC or Mac)
On a computer you have two quick options:
- From the address bar: open the video on youtube.com, click the address bar, select the whole URL and copy it with Ctrl+C (Cmd+C on Mac).
- With the Share button: below the video, click Share and then Copy. This gives you a short youtu.be link.
How to use the link to download the video
Once the link is copied, downloading the video takes seconds with the YouTube downloader:
- Open PullVid in your phone or computer browser.
- Paste the link into the search field (long-press and choose Paste, or use Ctrl+V).
- Wait a few seconds for the available formats to load.
- Pick the quality (for example MP4 1080p) and tap Download.
You don't need to install anything or sign up, and you won't see banners or fake download buttons to confuse you.
Common problems when copying the link
- You copied the channel link, not the video: if you open the creator's profile and copy that URL, you get the channel link, not the video's. Open the specific video first and copy from there.
- Shortened link (youtu.be): youtu.be links are valid and work just like the long ones (youtube.com/watch). There's no need to convert them.
- It says 'invalid link': this usually means the URL is incomplete or the video is private or unavailable. Copy it again with the Share button and, if it still fails, see why you can't download a video.
Frequently asked questions
Why does it say the YouTube link is invalid?
Almost always because the URL is incomplete or the video is private or has been removed. Copy it again with the Share → Copy link button in the official app to make sure you have the complete address.
Does the link I copy from the YouTube app work?
Yes. The Share → Copy link from the app (including the short youtu.be format) works perfectly in PullVid. It's the most reliable way to get the correct URL.
Can I copy the link of a private or unlisted video?
You can copy the link, but a private video can't be downloaded even if you have its URL, because it requires permission and sign-in. Public videos and 'unlisted' ones accessible without an account do work.
Is the channel link the same as the video link?
No. The channel link goes to the creator's profile; the video link goes to that specific video. To download you need the video link: open it first and copy from there.
