Download Instagram Reels Without an App (2026 Guide)

In short: copy the Reel link (⋯ → Copy link), paste it into PullVid's Instagram downloader and download the MP4 in whatever quality you want. It works from the browser on iPhone, Android and PC, with no apps to install and only with Reels from public accounts.

Instagram Reels are some of the most viral content around, but the app does not let you save them. In this guide we show you how to save any Reel to your device without installing third-party apps, directly from your browser.

How to download Instagram Reels step by step

  1. Open Instagram and find the Reel you want to download.
  2. Copy the link: tap the three dots (⋯) on the Reel and select "Copy link". On PC, copy the URL from the browser address bar.
  3. Paste into PullVid: go to our Instagram downloader and paste the link.
  4. Download: select the quality and save the Reel as MP4 to your device.

What type of Instagram content can I download?

  • Reels: short vertical videos, the most popular format.
  • Video posts: videos published in the feed.
  • IGTV: long-form videos (if the creator has them available).

Stories: yes, they can be downloaded, but only while they are still active and the account is public (they disappear after 24 hours). Live videos can't be downloaded while they're streaming, and content from private accounts isn't accessible with any tool.

Does it download with a watermark?

No. Unlike TikTok, Instagram does not add a watermark to Reels, so the downloaded video will be clean — exactly as the creator uploaded it.

Downloading from iPhone (iOS)

On iPhone, the process is the same. Safari will ask whether you want to download the file; accept and you will find it in the Files app. From there you can save it to your photo library.

Downloading from Android

On Android, Chrome downloads the file directly to the Downloads folder. From there you can move it to your gallery or share it via WhatsApp or other apps.

Downloading from the computer (Windows and Mac)

On the PC the process is identical and often more convenient, because copying the URL is instant: open the Reel on instagram.com, copy the link from the browser's address bar, paste it into PullVid's Instagram downloader and hit download. The MP4 file is saved to your browser's Downloads folder: on Windows you'll find it in File Explorer and on Mac in Finder. From there you open it with any player or move it to your phone.

Why doing it without an app is cleaner and safer

Doing it from the browser has a fundamental advantage over installing an app: you hand over no permission or access to your account. You don't log into Instagram inside a third-party tool, you don't give it access to your gallery or contacts, and you don't leave an app running in the background that updates itself. You paste a public link, download the file and that's it. It's the same principle we apply on every other platform, as we explain in downloading videos on mobile without apps.

Why shouldn't I use third-party apps?

Most apps for downloading Reels on Google Play and the App Store come with these problems:

  • They ask for access to your Instagram account (risk of account theft).
  • They fill your phone with aggressive advertising.
  • Some collect and sell your usage data.
  • They become outdated quickly when Instagram changes its API.

With PullVid you do not need to install anything or grant account access. Everything works from the browser.

Frequently asked questions

Can I download Reels from private accounts?

No. Only Reels from public accounts can be downloaded. If an account is private, its content is not accessible from outside Instagram.

Is the creator notified when I download their Reel?

No. Instagram does not notify creators when someone saves or downloads their content through external tools.

Do I need an account or to sign up?

No. PullVid works anonymously from the browser: there's no sign-up or login, and your identity isn't stored. You just paste the public Reel link and download.

Where is the downloaded Reel saved?

On mobile, in your browser's Downloads folder (on iPhone, in the Files app; from there you can move it to Photos). On PC, in your browser's Downloads folder, accessible from File Explorer on Windows or Finder on Mac.
