tikmate not working: why, and what to do
Short version: with tikmate one cause comes before all others: the specific domain you were using may have disappeared. Since a dozen separate sites carry that name, it's common. After that come the normal causes: the video, TikTok, or your ad blocker.
1. That domain is gone
There is no single tikmate: there's .cc, .io, .app, .world, .to, .id, .live and more, independent of one another. One dropping doesn't affect the rest, and nobody tells you. If the one you saved won't open — no error, no page, nothing — that's it.
The tell: if the site doesn't even load, it's the domain. If it loads but won't process the link, read on.
2. The video isn't public
If the account is private or the video was deleted, there's nothing to download and no web tool will manage it. Check by opening the link in a private window, signed out: if you can't see it there, the video is the problem.
Watch the app's links too: sometimes the profile link gets copied instead of the video's, and then there's nothing to process.
3. TikTok changed something
TikTok fairly regularly changes how it serves video, and each change puts downloaders out for a while. The tell is clear: it fails on any video, not just yours. It usually fixes itself within days.
4. Your ad blocker
Some blockers also take down the scripts that make the download button work. The page loads and the button does nothing. Turn it off for that site briefly to rule it out.
What to do instead of hunting another domain
What nearly everyone does is search "tikmate" again and click the next result. It's understandable, and it's exactly what leads to worse sites, because whatever ranks first isn't necessarily the cleanest.
