How to download a YouTube playlist (step by step)

Daniel CarterBy Daniel CarterPublished July 2, 20265 min read

A YouTube playlist can gather dozens of videos: a full course, an artist's discography, a series of tutorials, or your collection of favorite songs. Watching them offline is very convenient, but YouTube doesn't offer a button to download the entire playlist at once. In this guide we'll walk you through, step by step, how to download the videos in a playlist with PullVid directly from your browser, without installing anything.

What does downloading a playlist mean?

When you paste the playlist link into the tool, PullVid reads the list and shows you the videos it contains in a grid. From there, you decide which videos to save and in which format (MP4 for video or MP3 for audio only). It doesn't download a single compressed file with everything inside: you download each video separately, with one click, choosing its quality. It's a flow designed to give you control over what you save and in what format.

How to copy the link of a playlist

The most important step is copying the right link: the one for the playlist, not for a single video. A playlist link contains the parameter "list=" in the URL. The safest way to get it is to open the playlist page (not a video page) and copy the address from the browser bar. You can also use the playlist's "Share" button.

  1. Open YouTube and go to the playlist you want to save.
  2. Make sure you're on the playlist page (you'll see all the videos listed on the right or in a grid).
  3. Copy the link from the address bar; it must include "list=" followed by the playlist ID.
  4. If you're copying from a specific video, check that the link ends with "&list=" so the playlist is recognized.

Downloading the playlist step by step

With the link copied, the rest is simple. Open the YouTube playlist downloader, paste the link, and let the tool load the videos. You'll see each video with its thumbnail and a download button; open each one's options to choose between MP4 (video) or MP3 (audio only) and the available quality.

  1. Copy the playlist link from YouTube.
  2. Open PullVid in your browser and paste the link into the search field.
  3. Wait a few seconds for the videos in the playlist to appear.
  4. For each video, open the options and choose MP4 (video) or MP3 (audio only) with the quality you prefer.
  5. Click Download on each video you want to save to your device.

On mobile (Android and iPhone)

The process is identical on your phone, because everything happens in the browser. On Android, open the YouTube app, tap "Share" on the playlist, copy the link, and paste it into PullVid from Chrome; the files are saved to the Downloads folder. On iPhone, copy the link the same way and paste it into Safari; once downloaded, the file appears in the Files app, from where you can move it to your camera roll. You don't need to install any app on either system.

On PC

On a computer is where it's most convenient to download several videos in a row: paste the link once, see the whole list, and keep clicking "Download" on the videos you're interested in. The files are saved to your browser's Downloads folder, ready to watch, edit, or transfer to another device.

Choosing MP4 or MP3 for each video

The advantage of downloading video by video is that you can decide the format for each one. To keep the picture (tutorials, clips, gameplay), choose MP4 at the highest resolution available. If you're only interested in the sound (music, podcasts, classes), choose MP3 and save space. If your whole playlist is music and you want to convert all of it to audio, there's a dedicated guide: download a YouTube playlist as MP3.

Honest limits you should know

For the tool to stay fast and stable, there are a few clear limits worth keeping in mind before you start:

  • First 50 videos: for very long playlists, only the first 50 items are loaded. That's usually enough for most playlists.
  • Public or unlisted playlists only: a private playlist isn't accessible from outside your account, so no external tool can read it.
  • Download per video, not in bulk: no ZIP is generated with the whole playlist; you download each video with its own button. It's a design decision to give you control over what you save and in what format.
  • Unavailable videos: if a video in the playlist has been deleted, is private, or has restrictions, it's skipped and the rest keeps working.

Frequently asked questions

Does it download the entire playlist at once as a single file?

No. PullVid shows you the videos in the playlist and you download each one separately with its own button. No ZIP is generated with everything; it's a design decision so you choose what you save and in what format (MP4 or MP3).

How many videos from the playlist can I download?

The first 50 videos in the playlist are loaded. For the vast majority of playlists that's more than enough.

Can I download a private playlist?

No. Private playlists are only accessible from your own YouTube account, so no external tool can read them. Public and unlisted playlists work.

Do I need to install any program or app?

No. Everything works from the browser, on both PC and mobile (Android and iPhone). Just paste the link and download.

Can I choose MP4 or MP3 for each video?

Yes. When you open each video's options you can choose MP4 to keep the picture or MP3 if you only want the audio, with whatever quality is available in each case.

What happens if a video in the playlist isn't available?

If a video has been deleted, is private, or has restrictions, it's simply skipped and the rest of the playlist downloads normally.
